1. My default icon is a cropped and lightly edited picture of a lilac from Wikimedia Commons. Probably. I think. Possibly I got it off of Google Images. Anyway, it's a common lilac bunch-of-flowers with a GIMP "cartoonify" effect done to it before it was resized to 100x100. I have taken 8-year-old me's decision to name my Runescape account "Lielac" and run with it far past what 8yo!me probably meant by it.

2. Gosh. I got it off the Young Wizards website back in Fuck I Dunno When In Or Before 2010; it's not there in its original form anymore but I did find a page with a bunch of icons on the Young Wizards website, and bottom of the first column is the icon but as a .gif with a text overlay. It used to be my default icon, actually! Still is on the NaNoWriMo website. Young Wizards was my second fandom after Bionicle, and for a while it was solidly up there as my most active. Thus the thing.

"Life's name" is a quote from the Wizard's Oath, which is the oath wizards take in the YW universe when they agree to be wizards. "In Life’s name and for Life’s sake, I say that I will use the Art for nothing but the service of that Life...."

Oh also, another reason "life's name" is no longer my default icon is that on the Bay 12 Forums (forums of the guy who does Dwarf Fortress) there's a user called PeridexisErrant who has it as their avatar and the only way I will ever stop going "no that's MY icon why are you ME" is if I stop using it. :V Alas I cannot be bothered to change my NaNo avatar and so the weirdness remains.

1. "suck" is from uhhhh Looking For Group, I think, a webcomic I used to be really into that affectionately parodies I think World of Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons, that kind of adventurey high fantasy gaming shit. I can't at all remember the context of the icon; I think Richard might have died or something?? Though I think he's a lich and/or necromancer so IDK.

2. "patron troll" is because I'm a Sagittarius and Equius is thus my patron troll. I was and in fact still am a Homestuck; less so than I was in 2012, but I still love this ludicrous multimedia clusterfuck. Gosh, I don't even know what things about Homestuck people who know me well enough to follow me on Dreamwidth wouldn't have osmosed. He's a gray-skinned alien who helped create the human universe and his personal sign became part of the western Zodiac

I've heard things about Looking For Group, though I've never read it.

I have read Homestuck, and have deep affection for it despite never finishing it-- and I completely forgot what a patron troll is. (It's kinda funny that this means one of my fave trolls, Karkat, is my patron :P) (I should also, like, try and finish the thing, if I'm going to go around having opinions like 'Horuss is my favourite dancestor' and 'Dirk is my favourite alpha kid' despite never have got up to those parts.)

I've seen people be all like "well your patron troll should be calculated more like [blah X Y Z] because see how the beta kids had specific trolls who interacted with them most (Jade+Karkat, Dave+Terezi, John+Vriska, Rose+Kanaya)" but the simplest position in fandom is to go "my patron troll is the one whose zodiac sign I fall under" and I sure can't remember any of the other sillinesses so.

And yes! You absolutely should finish Homestuck! I'd say it's a fast read except I have no life and so could do things like read everything up to but not including [S] Cascade (because it hadn't dropped yet) in maybe a week. And there are rather more pages now than there were there.

I'm a relatively fast reader, but the troll dialogue kept tripping me up. (Part of the reason I want to re-read it is because I want to actually understand what Gamzee says this time). But I really should re-read/finish it at some point.

I am perhaps distressingly good at reading troll dialogue even after no longer being incredibly in the fandom. Gamzee certainly wasn't the most difficult for me to parse. (Mituna handily gets the prize for "I have no fucking clue what you're saying, man", but everyone else I've figured out.)

I wouldn't be surprised if i found Mituna worse. I'm just surprised it was Gamzee that gave me trouble, and not Terezi. (I found Terezi fairly easy to read.)

You know, I have no idea anymore! I made it in uh... 2012, as part of my enduring love for Bionicle. Possibly I meant it as something to attach to posts about things that made me particularly cranky, but I never actually used it more than the once.

It's a little pixelated version of a Toa of Lightning named Lilak, because 1. Bionicle lends itself so very, very well to making OCs with awesome magic powers, and 2. I am not ashamed to admit that not-at-all-veiled self-inserts are among the greatest joys in life.
